How to Store Camping Chairs - camping chair storage ideas

It Doesn’t matter if you are an experienced one or just a nube in camping, you need to know how to store your camping chairs. Ensuring good storage will allow you to keep your chairs in great condition even after years. Again, camping chairs are so expensive so you definitely will not want to replace one every couple of years. Here are the few camping chair storage ideas I follow personally to store my camping chairs to keep them in good conditions.

  • Store the chairs in a Trash Can
  • Store in large cabinets or lockers
  • Hang on the wall
  • Store chairs in a cardboard box
  • Keep chairs in the storeroom
  • Store chairs in an empty drum
  • Stash chairs under the bed
  • Store in a corner of your garage
  • Keep chairs under benches
  • Store camping chairs in bins

Before following any of the techniques you have to unfold the chairs by parts. Wash the washable parts and dry all the parts properly. Ensure there is no hidden dust in any parts before you store them. This will help you to get a fresh and clean chair for your next use. Not only that it will also resist growing bacteria, mold, and mildew while being stored.

Store the Chairs In a Trash Can

Storing the camping chairs in the trash can be your first option to pick to store your camping chairs. You need to unfold the chairs into parts and separate the clothes and metal rods before you store them. You don’t have to worry about sealing the Can if there are no humidity, dampness, or vermin problems. In most cases, trash Cans have lids on them which don’t make the Can air-tight but are covered enough to store your things out of dust and dampness. You can use some pieces of naphthalene in the bottom of the Can to keep the clothes out of insects and get a fresh smell in the next use.

Hang on the wall

Despite of shortage of lockers or cabinets, you can hang your chair on the wall by parts. Before hanging the chair parts you need to unfold the parts. I recommend wrapping each part with a packing bag before hanging. It will help you to keep the chair parts out of insects, dust, and bacteria. For metal parts, it will resist the forming of rust.

Store in Large Cabinets or Lockers

If you have a garage in your yard, you can plan to store the camping chair in your garage. To do so you can make or buy one wooden locker or cabinets and place it at a corner of the garage.  You can also fix the cabinet on the wall according to your desired design. This technique will help you to maintain a clean and ship-shaped garage. In addition, if you buy a cabinet you will able to store other essential camping gear also.

Store chairs in a cardboard box

If you want to store your camping chair in a portable but cheap way, keeping the camping chair in a card box will be the best choice for you. You can unfold the chair and store it in a cardboard box. In this technique, there is always the risk of shattering the box while lifting. To avoid this problem, you need to choose the correct card box that will be able to take the overall load of your chair. Again, there are better choices than storing a camping chair in a cardboard box if the environment is damp. In a moist climate, the cardboard box may start rotten, and the metal part of the stored chair may get rust.

store room

Keep chairs in the storeroom

If you have a large house where a dedicated store room is available, then you can store your camping chairs in your store room. In this case, you can keep the chair unfolded and store it as ready-to-use, but if you have a shortage of space in the storeroom, you have to dismantle the chair and keep it in a box or bin in the corner of the storeroom. While keeping the chairs in the store room, you have to ensure that the room is free of insects and the surroundings are not wet. The room should have a look door system to prevent any animal, vermin, or dust from entering.

Store chairs in an empty drum

A vacant plastic drum presents an efficient and straightforward solution for storing camping chairs. Similar to utilizing a garbage bin, this method ensures the chairs remain upright and neatly gathered in one spot. However, it’s crucial to place the drum in a dry area to avoid moisture damage. Additionally, it’s essential to ensure the location is secure from any creatures that might seek to create a nest inside. This approach not only keeps your camping gear organized but also adds an element of tidiness to your storage space.

Stash chairs under the bed

Bed space is often an underutilized area for storage in many homes. It offers an ideal solution for tucking away items you prefer to keep out of sight. However, this space can become even more efficient with a bit of strategic organizing. If you’re already using the area under your bed to store large duffel bags or suitcases, consider maximizing this space further. An innovative approach is to check if any of your chairs can be disassembled or folded and then stored inside these bags or suitcases. This method not only saves space but also ensures that the under-bed area serves a dual purpose. By doing so, you create a more organized and clutter-free environment, making the most out of every inch of available storage space in your home. This approach is beneficial in smaller living spaces where every bit of storage counts. Remember, effective space management is critical to maintaining a tidy and pleasant living area.

Store in a corner of your garage

Storing items in your garage can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to bulky, occasionally used items like camping chairs, camp stretchers and umbrellas. However, those often overlooked corners and nooks in your garage can be ideal for this purpose. These spaces, typically underutilized, provide an excellent opportunity to keep your garage organized while ensuring these items are easily accessible when you need them. By creatively utilizing these areas, you can free up more central space for items you use more frequently, such as tools and gardening equipment. Furthermore, storing these items in a corner not only keeps them out of the way but also protects them from damage and dust, ensuring they’re in good condition for your next outdoor adventure. Remember to place them in a manner that allows for easy retrieval, avoiding the frustration of having to move multiple things around when the time comes to use them.

Keep chairs under benches

Storing camping chairs beneath utility benches is a clever and space-saving solution, especially for those who love outdoor activities but struggle with limited storage space. Many utility benches, like those found in workshops or garages, offer an ideal length to neatly tuck away camping chairs underneath. This approach not only saves space but also keeps the chairs within easy reach for spontaneous outdoor adventures.

Take, for instance, a workbench equipped with power outlets. These types of benches often feature a substantial amount of room underneath, which can be utilized for storing camping chairs. The open shelf design of such workbenches is particularly advantageous in dry, arid environments. It provides a degree of protection for the chairs, especially if they are stored in their protective sleeves, safeguarding them from the elements.

However, it’s important to remember that if camping chairs are stored without any cover, they might accumulate dust over time. For those who prefer a more enclosed storage solution, options like the Seville Classics Rolling Workbench come to the rescue. This type of workbench boasts a cupboard-style design, complete with compartments for smaller items, offering a neat and organized way to store camping chairs and other outdoor equipment. But before choosing this method, it’s crucial to measure both your chairs and the bench to ensure they fit together perfectly. This way, you can maintain a tidy and efficient storage system in your workspace or garage, ready for your next outdoor excursion.

plastic bins

Store camping chairs in bins

Storing your camping chairs in large storage bins is an effective and practical method, especially if you have access to these containers. This approach is particularly beneficial for fabric lawn chairs, as it safeguards them against potential damage and moisture during storage periods.

One of the significant advantages of using large storage bins is the protection they offer against rodents. Mice, known for gnawing on fabric, can cause considerable damage to your chairs if they are not stored properly. By placing the chairs in these bins, you create a barrier that prevents mice from accessing the fabric, ensuring that your chairs remain in pristine condition over the winter months.

Furthermore, these bins also offer an organized way to store your camping chairs. Instead of having chairs scattered around or taking up unnecessary space, the bins allow you to neatly stack and store them in your garage or storage area. This not only keeps your space tidy but also makes it easier to access your chairs when needed.

Additionally, these bins are often stackable, which maximizes space efficiency. You can easily stack multiple containers on top of each other, freeing up valuable floor space in your storage area. This is particularly useful for those who have limited storage space.

Overall, using large storage bins for storing camping chairs is an innovative and efficient solution. It offers protection from moisture, damage, and pests while also providing an organized and space-saving storage option.

How To Store Camping Chairs On A Wall ?

Storing camping chairs on a wall is an efficient and space-saving solution, beneficial for those who want to keep their garage or storage area organized. This method elevates the chairs off the floor, instantly freeing up valuable floor space that can be used for other purposes.

Installing hooks for this purpose is a task that doesn’t require extensive carpentry skills. It’s a straightforward DIY project that most people can undertake without much hassle. Metal hooks, which are readily available at local hardware stores, are a popular choice for this job. They can safely support the weight of the majority of camping chairs and are solid and straightforward to install. The installation procedure is easy to follow and relatively quick. All you have to do is screw in the hooks firmly after drilling holes in the wall at the proper height and spacing.

For those who prefer a more customized and permanent solution, constructing hangers from pieces of 1″ x 4″ lumber is an excellent option. These wooden hangers can be designed to fit the specific dimensions of your folding chairs, ensuring a snug and secure fit. The process involves measuring the width and depth of your chairs when folded and then cutting and assembling the lumber to create hangers that match these dimensions. Once constructed, these hangers can be mounted directly to the wall, providing a sturdy and aesthetically pleasing storage option.

Whether you choose metal hooks or custom-built wooden hangers, both methods offer a practical way to store camping chairs, keeping them accessible yet out of the way. This approach not only helps maintain a tidy space but also prolongs the life of the chairs by keeping them safely stored and protected when not in use.

How To Store Camping Chairs In Garage ?

Storing camping chairs in your garage requires a bit of planning, especially if your garage is susceptible to specific environmental challenges. Here are some enhanced and practical tips to ensure your chairs remain in good condition, ready for your next outdoor adventure.

  1. Moisture and Humidity Control: If your garage tends to get damp or humid, it’s crucial to prevent mold and mildew from damaging your camping chairs. One effective solution is to use silica gel packets or a dehumidifier in the area where the chairs are stored. These will help absorb excess moisture, keeping the environment dry and your chairs safe.
  2. Elevated Storage: Elevating your chairs off the ground can protect them from any water that might seep into the garage. Consider installing wall-mounted hooks or a ceiling rack. Not only does this keep them away from potential water damage, but it also saves valuable floor space.
  3. Protective Covers: Invest in quality, breathable covers for your chairs. These covers should be made of a material that prevents dust accumulation and shields the chairs from any dirt or debris. Furthermore, make sure the coverings are made of non-plastic material since this might retain moisture and promote the formation of mold.
  4. Pest Deterrence: To safeguard your chairs from rodents and other critters, store them in a rigid, sealable container or use natural repellents like peppermint oil around the storage area. Make sure the chairs are clean and free of food crumbs to not attract pests.
  5. Regular Maintenance: Regularly check your chairs for any signs of wear or damage. This includes inspecting for rust on metal parts and tears in the fabric and checking if any part needs repair. Maintaining your chairs will not only prolong their life but also ensure they are always ready for use.
  6. Organized Layout: Arrange your camping chairs in a way that allows easy access without having to move other items. This could mean dedicating a specific section of your garage to camping gear. Labeling the storage area can also help keep things organized.
  7. Climate Control Considerations: If you live in an area with extreme temperatures, consider insulating your garage or using a climate control system to protect your camping chairs from extreme heat or cold, which can damage the materials over time.

Through the application of these techniques, you can efficiently store your camping chairs in your garage, ensuring they remain in excellent condition, free from damage caused by humidity, pests, or clutter. Remember the key is to adapt these suggestions to suit your specific garage environment and storage capabilities.
